Dave DeLuca

Elder

I began serving as an elder when a good friend, Dave Lambertson, was the interim Pastor and asked if I’d serve in this position to help him. I have continued serving through a couple of transition periods and, probably, all told, have served for around 8 years. As far as my background, I’ve served as a pastor of two churches in Colorado and New York, an associate pastor in another two in Maine, and a youth and education pastor in another two in Colorado and Illinois. I last served as a chaplain at St Mary’s Hospital here in Lewiston, helping in an IOP and drug rehabilitation ministry. More recently, the opportunity has opened up to teach African students Theology and the Old and New Testaments. Along the way my wife Ellen and I feel like the Lord has allowed us to raise four wonderfully God blessed children, eight grandchildren, and God gave the grace to pen two books..one about dealing with the ten most stressful situations, currently titled “Stuff Happens” and one called “Getting a Personal Word from the Written Word.”

We enjoy the beauty of creation and much that goes with that, including fishing, bird watching, the gorgeous leaves in the fall, snowmobiling in the winter, playing with grandchildren, and walking through the woods. You may miss us in the summertime because we serve as pastor at Frye Island Chapel from Memorial Day to Columbus Day.

One verse that has been a guide for our lives continues to be Proverbs 16:9: “The mind of a man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps,” and gives us the joy of helping to encourage others through the steps and missteps of life we all make.
